Extraterrestrial Follow Ups…

For those that are inclined, I’ve done a couple of lengthy interviews in support of “Extraterrestrial” and they can be found at:

A Quick Head’s Up

In limited theatrical release this weekend and in pay per view markets across the country is a movie that I acted in last year, called “Extraterrestrial”.  I’ve seen the final product and it works quite well!  It’s written and directed by “The Vicious Brothers”, Colin Minihan and Stuart Ortiz and starring, Brittany Allen in the lead role of “April” who was absolutely wonderful to work with and who I personally believe, is well worth watching right now and in the future.

The story goes down the well worn path of…dysfunctional rebellious teenagers reacting to a parental breakup heading for an unsupervised weekend at the cottage… but instead of the lurking slasher in the root cellar/woods and a burgeoning body count…they walk face first into an alien invasion/infestation.

“The Vicious Brothers” apply pretty much every filmic trick of the genre’ and do it exceedingly well…if not brilliantly. I don’t usually push product but I truly think this’ll be one of those movies that you’ll some day say “yeah I remember one of their first movies” and/or ” Yeah, Brittany Allen, she’s wonderful.  You ever see her in “Extraterrestrial?” Until next time….Michael

Been fairly busy of late…

…rushing back and forth between Northern Ontario, Canada where I’ve been shooting the SONY picture, “The Frozen” (working title) and the soundstages of Santa Clarita, California where I’ve been shooting the last three episodes of “Vegas”, Seaon One, which airs on CBS.

The Sony Picture stars Dominic Purcell, best known from the  TV series “Prison Break” and Adam Beach, best known from multiple film roles and the TV series “Artic Air” and is   Directed by Sturla Gunnarsson who’s absolutely wonderful to work with.  In spite of  physically difficult working conditions (- 15 F plus wind chill), Sturla makes showing up on set something I look forward to on a daily basis.

“Vegas” has a great cast with Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis soundly up front and leading the way.  I’ve been having a great time playing a rather ambitious and what some might say “immoral” character named Porter Gainsley who’s a thorn in the side of both the mob and the law.

I wrap off both these projects near the end of March and start filming on a new project in Mid April which I’ll talk more about…once I get started on it.  Unitl next time…Michael

Quick Update

In mid December 2012, I had lower back surgery to clean up complications from multiple  injuries I’ve collected over the years due to (smart or not) doing my own stunts.  After a couple of months of laying low and recovering, I’ve been told by the doctors in charge, that I’m “better than ever” and “good to go”,  but if my  “jumping back in” is higher than three feet … LOL … I’m to use a stunt double.   To be honest … we’ll have to see about that!  Until next time … Michael.

Apologizes!

For anyone who has tried to get a response from me, I apologize, I’ve been “off” the continent and have just recently returned. Thanks for your patience!

Ironside’s Corner

While in Toronto recently I was invited to do an in studio interview on the CBC’s “GEORGE STROUMBOULOPOULOS TONIGHT” also know as “THE HOUR with George Stroumboulopoulos”. I’ve passed on this sort of thing in the past because when asked, often to my own detriment, I’ve had a tendency to tell the unvarnished truth.

Then it occured to me … at this stage in my life … the unvarnished truth,  as I see it, shouldn’t be something I shy away from … so I agreed and went on the show.  It’s set to air November 16, 2011, 10pm EST on the CBC network … and will end up posted on You Tube the following day.

So … with that thought in mind, going forward from here and to the best of my abilities, I’m going to use this blog to share my unvarnished thoughts and observations on pretty much everything and anything.

Till next time, Michael I.
